International Response Fund
We have received many inquiries regarding how you can help the situation in Haiti. The situation is dire. Hundreds of thousands of people are feared dead. Government offices, including the Presidential Palace, have collapsed. Hospitals and the local Red Cross office have sustained major damage. Children, families and communities are still suffering aftershocks following this devastating earthquake.
To date, the Red Cross is meeting any requests for blood due to this tragedy through current supplies. At this time, we do not anticipate the need for a special donor appeal to support our efforts. As always, blood donors are encouraged to call 1-800-RED CROSS or to make an appointment online.
We’re sending a team of trained Red Cross responders to support our local staff and the Haitian Red Cross volunteers who are already providing food, water, and medical treatment to survivors. We released an initial $10 million to provide food, water and other relief to people impacted by the earthquake. The Red Cross has also opened its warehouse in Panama to provide tarps, mosquito nets and cooking sets for approximately 5,000 families.
Additional help will be needed. To support our International Response Fund and help victims of disasters like the earthquake in Haiti, please make a donation today.
Your gift will provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
