Mission
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principals of the International Red Cross Movement, provides relief to victims of disaster and helps prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
When disaster strikes, whether it is a single-family fire or large disaster such as hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes, the Red Cross is there. In our communities the Northern Lower Michigan Chapter is there 24 hours a day to help victims rebuild their lives by providing food, new clothing, shelter, and replacement of lost medications based on disaster-caused losses. All Red Cross disaster assistance is free and a gift from the American people. The American Red Cross is not a government agency.
