ARC Northern Lower Michigan

The Northern Lower Michigan Red Cross announces
THE GREAT NORTHERN FISH-IN!

THE GREAT NORTHERN FISH-IN will be a public art event taking place in the summer of 2003 in and around the communities of Northern Michigan. This regional initiative celebrates our long history as a fisherman's and artist's mecca, by showcasing Michigan artists, supporting tourism and promoting partnerships.

Larger-than-life, outdoor fish sculptures will be displayed in city parks, along local streets and at sponsoring businesses throughout Northern Michigan. A plaque - including the sponsor's name, the artist's name and the title of the ichtho-beauty - will accompany each sculpture. So, "Take the Fish Tour"! Maps are available at various locations and on this site.

Friday, August 22 - Family Day

Bring the whole family to the Village at Bay Harbor from 12:00 to 3:00. See the fish, listen to Native American stories told by one of our artists, Tony Miron, and have the kids design their own fish on paper. Enjoy popcorn, lemonade, cookies, goldfish (the crackers, not the real thing). Admission is free. This event is sponsored by Wal-Mart of Petoskey. Click Here for a few Family Day Photos.

Saturday, August 23 - Auction

After the fish sculptures are displayed in Northern Michigan from mid June to mid August, the Fish going to auction will be moved to the Bay Harbor Village the week of August 17, 2003. The auction will take place at the Village at Bay Harbor on August 23, 2003 - cocktails & hors d'oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. and auction at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, call 231-348-7666 or click here.
