2011 Art Event

Spread your wings and take flight as part of a local effort to raise funds for the Northern Lower Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross. We are proud to announce a new 2011 Outdoor Art project. For this event we are asking artists to create their own work of art that fits in the broad theme of “wings”. Art chosen for the live auction must be designed to be displayed outdoors.

Three ways to participate:

1. Artists can design and create their own sculpture choosing a medium such as wood, metal, glass, ceramic, or mixed medium.
2. The art piece can be a collaborative work done with more than one artist or craftsman.
3. An artist can choose to purchase an existing form, such as a chair, garden ball or fiberglass animal and make it unique through art work.

We invite you to earn your wings and join the flight crew of selected artists commissioned to create an Outdoor Art piece that will be part of a benefit auction. All designs must be submitted to the Art Review Committee for approval by September 17th, 2010. Only 30 designs will be selected for the auction. If your design is chosen, you will be paid an honorarium of $750 and have 7 months to complete the piece. The artwork will be securely displayed June and July in northern Michigan communities and auctioned at a gala event in August 2011.
